Car insurance: Hull is 'worst for car theft'

Monday, 04 December 2006

Hull has been named the car theft hotspot of the UK in a new car crime report.

One car insurance company analysed their claims to find that the amount of claims in Hull is 126 per cent above the national average with Bradford, Leeds and Bristol all having high numbers of car thefts.

Motorists in Norwich, Solihull and Swindon are the least likely to have their cars stolen while car accidents are most common in Bradford, Ilford and inner London.

Tim Larden, from the insurance company, said: "The overall national picture on car theft is good news for drivers and there us no doubt that improved car security has significantly contributed to this drop."

Meanwhile the gender debate reigns as a report by YouGov research company found that female drivers are less likely to speed or commit driving offences than men.
