Travel insurance: 9.5 days 'ideal getaway'

Monday, 25 June 2007

A survey of Britons for a travel insurance company has revealed that nine and a half days is the ultimate length for a holiday break.

The time period is an ideal compromise between time away and starting to feel homesick.

Britons find many ways of making themselves feel at home, the study found, with the equivalent of 31.9 Boeing 747 jets filled with extra supplies flown abroad every year.

The main product UK holidaymakers take is reportedly tea, which accounts for enough to fill 10.9 Boeing 747s. A love for British beer put the alcoholic beverage in second place of products Brits take on holiday with them.

Over a million travellers also take their pillows with them, ensuring that they get the good night sleep they are used to at home.

Music is also a source of comfort to a lot of Brits but holidaymakers should be sure to take out travel insurance to protect them from the loss or theft of their beloved mp3 player.
