Car insurance: Auctions 'are a good place to find a bit of Bond glamour'

Tuesday, 28 October 2008

Motorists who are fans of the kind of vehicles that require classic car insurance could find a vehicle to add a bit of glamour to their lives at an auction, BCA has suggested.

With excitement building ahead of the release of the new James Bond film - Quantum of Solace - this weekend, the company has said drivers can emulate 007 by picking up a motor from one of its sales.

It stated a 1968 Aston Martin DBS which went under the hammer generated interest from as far afield as Japan.

The silver car with leather interior eventually sold for £18,150 - three times its original estimate.

Speaking on behalf of BCA, Robin Lawson said: "It seems everyone wants a bit of James Bond glamour as the bidding for the 1968 DBS proved."

Earlier this month, the auction firm stated its sale figures were strong despite the credit crunch - which may mean the number of people searching for the cheap car insurance will remain steady.
