Car insurance: 7k to insure 007's car
Friday, 17 November 2006
James Bond has been the source of much controversy this week as the dilemma of whether or not his car is insurable continues.
Virgin Money has today said Bond is insurable and his latest car in 'Casino Royale' would cost somewhere in the region of £7,108 to cover.
Bond is 38 and an international super-spy so his car insurance has to take these factors into account.
He has also written off six cars through various means such as crashing into a lakeside cabin in Living Daylights. In The World is Not Enough his motor is spliced in two by chain saws attached to a helicopter.
John Franklin, from Virgin Money, said: "We were surprised at how low Bond’s premium would be bearing in mind the car he drives and his clear lack of a no claims bonus!
"It just goes to show that even drivers with an action packed driving record don't have to be Goldfinger to get great car insurance."
Usually associated with Aston Martins and Jaguars, in his latest adventure Bond drives a more family-friendly Mondeo.
