Car insurance: Mondeo neither shakes nor stirs

The new James Bond film Casino Royale is released soon and those wanting to get into the mood with a fancy motor might be surprised at what the 00 agent is currently driving.

Legendary secret agent Bond sports a Ford Mondeo in his latest film rather than the more usual Aston Martin, Bentley or Lotus.

Research by Barclay's Insurance has found that though his new choice is comfortable and practical, it falls foul of four-fifths of Bond fans who would rather he drove something showier.

Mark Till, marketing director of Barclay's Insurance, said: "It may be a shock to see someone as cool as James Bond driving something as practical as a Ford Mondeo, but for all those wannabe Bonds out there the change away from the typical Aston Martins is good news."

If Bond bought a more expensive car then his car insurance would be dearer, so by choosing the Mondeo he will get cheap car insurance online.

This means more money for Bond's favourite tipple, vodka martinis.
