The least likely vehicle to be stolen in the UK is the Ford Ka, according to research by

Car insurance customers were told that the most likely automobiles to be targeted by thieves are the BMW 3.5, Jaguar XJ, Mercedes C Class and the Range Rover Sport.

The website sought advice from security expert Michael Fraser, who said: "Any anti-theft device will deter thieves to a certain extent, so it is always a good thing to have them because they do work.

"The thief doesn't want to spend time trying to remove it. Instead they will just move on to the next car without any security," he added.

Research by recently revealed that car insurance customers stash, on average, nearly £300 worth of belongings in their automobiles.

Items commonly left in the boot or glove-box include SatNavs (43 per cent), mobile phones (32 per cent) and wallets/purses (29 per cent).
