Car insurance: Website to highlight camera usage

Tuesday, 08 April 2008

Drivers caught breaking the speed limit may find that their car insurance premiums are negatively impacted upon.

Motorists can now find out why speed cameras have been set up in the Kent region after the introduction of a new website.

Such a move by the Kent & Medway Safety Camera Partnership will aim to prove that cameras have been put in place in order to improve roads, it said, as reported by yourcanterbury.co.uk.

And any claims that cameras are installed in order to generate revenue ought to dissipate after the publication of such information, it noted.

Communications manager at the organisation Rachel Wall stated that a large volume of information has been placed on the site as an attempt to highlight a point.

"The advertising campaign aims to raise awareness of our website, which holds a huge amount of information about safety cameras including the location of every site in the county," she told the publication.

She added they are normally utilised where a bad accident has taken place in the past and can help to reduce the risk of a similar occurrence.

In related news, a speed camera was recently set on fire in Staffordshire by vandals, something that the local casualty reduction partnership condemned.
