Car insurance: Kia puts up prices

Wednesday, 01 April 2009

Motorists who expect to be renewing their car insurance policy in the coming months after buying a Kia vehicle may be disappointed to hear the manufacturer is putting its prices up.

The company announced it has been forced to take the step as a result of the continued weakness of the pound against other currencies.

It explained the cost of buying most models will go up by about three per cent from the beginning of April, but added prices for the Soul and Magentis will remain the same as they are now.

The firm said it had protected its customers from rising costs for as long as possible and managing director Paul Philpott claimed buyers would still be offered great deals.

He stated: "The increase we are making now will be kept to an absolute minimum and still maintains Kia's competitive position in the market."

Motorists may be able to offset any price increases by searching for cheap car insurance online.
