Travel insurance: Give the kids some culture on holiday

Tuesday, 24 October 2006

If you are struggling with half-term already and quite fancy planning an enjoyable trip away while still retaining some educational value for the kids, then perhaps a new survey can help. has found that there has been a reduction in beach holidays because more people are engaging with cultural tourism.

Barcelona and Dubai are becoming more popular searches according to the website and Italian cities such as Venice and Rome have also enjoyed a popularity increase.

Ross McGowan, sales director at the site, said: "The fact that Barcelona, Venice and Rome have continued to be popular with renters throughout the summer reinforces the fact that today's travellers are looking for a more holistic holiday experience and more than just sun, sea and sand."

Of course getting cheap travel insurance is a prerequisite of any trips and if you are travelling with kids you might find the added extras, such as kids' clubs, on beach holidays very useful.

A new book called 500 Places to Take Your Kids before They Grow Up recommends trips to Buddhist monuments in Indonesia, Viking culture in Stockholm and cycling around the rim of Crater Lake in Oregon.
