Know what you need in a car
Wednesday, 29 February 2012
Brits have been advised to only buy cars which they know will meet their own needs this year, in order that they are efficient and keeping insurance premiums down.
The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) has said that knowing what you will use a car for is vital, as is knowing your budget, both for the car and an insurance policy.
If you cannot afford to buy car insurance on a high-powered vehicle, then buying it may be a waste of money, so the IAM advises looking smaller.
IAM head of training, Simon Elstow said that safety can also be a big consideration when buying a car. This was also promoted by HPI this week, when it said that one in three cars have something to hide from new buyers.
The IAM also said that things like running costs are important considerations, while a test drive before you buy is always necessary.
