Travel insurance: Leaving it to the last minute 'could be a mistake'

Holidaymakers who leave booking everything - from accommodation to travel insurance - to the last minute could be making a mistake if they do that this year, it has been claimed.

According to Thomson and First Choice, the best deals are probably available now.

It warned people should not assume because there is a recession there will be lots of holidays going cheap in the summer.

Emma Waddell, head of PR at Thomson and First Choice, said: "There will always be odd pockets where someone's cancelled, but we actually do believe that the best prices are [available at] this time of year."

In related news, Thomson and First Choice recently announced if holidaymakers book breaks now and then lose their jobs, their money will be refunded in full.

People keen to cut the amount they spend on getaways this year may be able to reduce costs by buying cheap travel insurance.
