Lots to do in costly kitchens, says expert

Tuesday, 10 April 2012

A home expert has said that kitchens are costly but can be used for a wide variety of things.

The likes of home insurance holders enjoy several activities in the room, Bernie Herlihy told one interviewer when asked about their significance.

"We're still seeing people wanting to eat and entertain in the kitchen as much as just cook," the Ideal Home magazine deputy editor declared.

However, "Planning space in a living space where you're trying to combine cooking, living and eating zones is quite tricky," she admitted.

The fact that a table and chairs for guests are often factored into the kitchen equation would make the challenge of finding places to put pots, pans and other implements greater, she suggested.

Another important thing to remember when it came to kitchens was 'cost,' she said.

The things that go into making the perfect culinary corner – not to mention the plumbing considerations – make it a pricy area, she added.

"The kitchen is where you're probably going to spend most of your money if you're doing up your house," Ms Herlihy said.
