Travel insurance: Luxury market 'still healthy'

Wednesday, 11 June 2008

The luxury travel market is going from strength to strength despite the current economic conditions, it has been claimed, something tourists should need travel insurance for.

Editor of Luxury Travel Magazine Alyson Cook said that, by researching clients, the firm thinks that business will remain strong this year.

Such a trend is possible because high-end customers are less likely to be hit by fluctuations in these tumultuous times, Ms Cook noted.

Furthermore, family deals are normally last to be impacted upon rather than first, she added, even if this was not the case in past times.

"The tendency in this particular market where we are talking about large spend holidays is that the whole family goes together. Quite often grandparents are included and usually the nanny," she commented.

Growth has recently been seen in markets such as Russia, China and India, the International Luxury Travel Market has stated.

In total, 25 per cent of international tourism spend is now in this section, it considered.
