Man sits on burglar waiting for police

Thursday, 26 January 2012

A man in Peterborough wrestled a much bigger burglar to the ground and sat on him until police could arrive, in order to protect his neighbour's home.

Graeme Finlay stands at just five foot eight inches tall and weighs only nine stone, but he tackled the larger man to the ground in order to look after the property, after leaping a fence when he heard the cry for help.

The home insurance customer then sat on him for 15 minutes until police arrived.

He told NewsToday that the burglar became increasingly frustrated as he waited for the police.

"He tried to grab a brick from nearby and then tried to bite me but missed. I just tried to keep calm and keep his arms still."

Another bungling burglar was recently nabbed after unwittingly adding tracking software to a laptop he had stolen from his neighbour by climbing in through the attic.
