Match-up floors with the rest of the kitchen, says expert

Saturday, 23 June 2012

Kitchen floor buyers need to match-up their new purchase with the way that the rest of their kitchen looks, according to one expert.

However, Egerton Designs' Alexi Sugden also said that home insurance holders shouldn't ever use wood for a kitchen's underfoot space.

"No matter how careful you and your family are, inevitably drips of water or kitchen liquids will drop to the floor and the floor will lift sooner or later," she warned.

This could leave some people who are sprucing-up their kitchens using a wooden look with a dilemma, but she has luckily provided a solution or two.

People whose kitchens are "wood or shaker style" can choose between vinyl and lino when it comes to floors, she said. You can get wood-look products in both materials she added – with prices varying.

Increasing numbers of people seek-out "ecological credentials" such as the source of wood when it comes to kitchens, the Freestanding Kitchen Company's Oliver Kearin said in April.
