Millions lack tyre equipment, says Kwik Fit

Monday, 14 May 2012

Even those car users in possession of an extra wheel should a flat tyre strike lack – in ten per cent of cases – the right equipment to actually replace the tyre on their car, according to a Kwik Fit study. This works out at some 2.9 million people.

Meanwhile, some 36 per cent of car insurance holders aren't sure what to do with the equipment they do have, the repair organisation adds.

Among drivers, four per cent are unaware if they are in possession of an extra wheel in case of emergencies or not.

"It’s is worrying how many drivers don’t know what provision they have for a puncture, but it’s even more of a concern to see how many have absolutely nothing in their car to deal with a deflated tyre," commented Kwik Fit's communications director, Roger Griggs.

Among car users, three per cent were in this position, says Kwik Fit.
