Motor insurance: Police criticised for mobile camera placement
Thursday, 10 January 2008
Police officials in Holmer Green have been slated after they parked mobile enforcement vehicles in a section of the road set aside for buses.
Opponents to the drive claimed that the police should not be given access to a bus bay that is a no-go area for other road users, reports the Bucks Free Press.
One of these was 50-year-old Peter Blakey, who suggested that the move is causing more problems for those on the road.
"Drivers are not allowed to park on that stop so why should the police be allowed? It could potentially be a bit of a hazard," he told the paper.
However, other locals argued that safety can be improved with the deployment of such speed cameras.
Barbara Wisp, 79, stated that this is a good way of helping out car drivers and noted "there is room enough for the bus and the police. It certainly makes the cars slow down".
In related news, drivers billed in error over speeding issues by Lancashire Police are set to be refunded.
