More cash splashed on bathrooms

Friday, 02 November 2012

There's more cash being pumped into – or splashed out on – bathrooms these days.

Home insurance holders have been spending when it comes to the rooms in a way that hasn’t been the case historically.

"People will spend money on their bathroom, whereas in the old days they didn’t use to bother much," said Julie Kent Interiors' Julie Kent.

Another change has been seen in the way that people wash themselves in these rooms.

A decade back, showers weren't so popular – these days they are, the design expert said.

When it comes to colours, meanwhile, it seems that among the bathrooms that Ms Kent has been working on, neutral shades have been popular.

"People won’t blanche at spending £25,000 on a bathroom. Bathrooms are becoming as popular as kitchens now," Ms Kent has previously said.

"That’s been the case for about five years. You can do a lot for £3,000, you can still get ‘the look’ but it obviously won’t be as good quality."
