Travel insurance: 'More' transatlantic flights
Monday, 07 April 2008
Greater competition is set to be opened up for those travelling over to America after the introduction of a new regulation, it was claimed.
A spokeswoman at Virgin Atlantic claimed that this will become possible as planes from any airline can now fly non-stop between the US and any country in Europe under the Open Skies Agreement.
Firms that offer flights from Heathrow will be willing to "do battle", she commented, with any fresh entrants to the market.
The spokeswoman added: "The transatlantic market is already one of the most competitive aviation markets in the world, and more competition will open up now phase one of the new Open Skies Agreement has come into effect."
The agreement came into being on March 30th and airliners can now offer services from locations outside of their home country.
And the volume of flights travelling between Britain and the US is expected to increase after its introduction, reports the BBC.
Travellers should ensure that they have adequate travel insurance before making trips across the Atlantic.
