With Lent in full swing, motor insurance customers are determined to kick their bad habits behind the wheel.

A survey from car insurance comparison site Tiger.co.uk found that the number one failing motorists want to eradicate is getting angry with other road users, followed by talking less so they do not get distracted as much.

Third on the list of things to stop doing is for women to stop threatening their husband with things they later regret, while snoozing at red lights is another bad habit car insurance customers are keen to kick.

The study found that 41 per cent of men believe they are perfect drivers compared to 35 per cent of women, although research by the website discovered that male motorists have greater room for improvement.

More than 17 per cent of men admitted they need to stop eating and drinking, reading maps and changing clothes behind the wheel, while just ten per cent of female motorists said they need to do the same.
