Car insurance: Festival speeding 'down'

Tuesday, 24 June 2008

A number of drivers attending a music festival in Scotland have been caught speeding, despite warnings from police, something that may interest those with car insurance.

But the Northern Safety Camera Partnership said that the£18,000 handed out to motorists going to Rock Ness is an improvement on last year, reports the BBC.

The partnership's Inspector John Smith suggested that the aim of the force is to try and lower the speed of drivers in the area.

"Our job is not about catching speeders, it's about reminding drivers of the dangers of inappropriate speed and the risks that they pose both to themselves and to other road users," he commented.

In 2007, about 500 speeding tickets were handed out to drivers, while this figure was few hundred less this year.

Last month, organisers of the festival urged drivers to remain cautious in the run-up to the event and watch their speed.
