Car insurance: It's all in the name for fender Ben-ders
Wednesday, 05 July 2006
You could be the most careful driver in the world, but if your name is Ben or Sophie you are more likely to be involved in an accident than anyone else – at least according to a recent survey.
Boy racers called Ben are the most likely to wreck their car, followed closely by Dean, Alex, Carl and Tim.
But girls are not immune from the curse of the unlucky name, as those named Sophie are also the worst drivers followed by Natalie, Maria, Leanne and Victoria, according to the study by a UK car insurance firm.
The high-risk name list was compiled using data from a number of claims, with Ben and Sophie the most accident-prone.
Britons looking for a lift with a pal would do well to go for men named Ian, Adrian or William, or women called Ann, Lesley or Janet, as they are the least likely to crash.
But whatever their name, motorists looking for cheap car insurance can make sure they get a good deal by registering for a car insurance quote online.
