Car insurance: New electric car shown off in London

Car insurance customers visiting this summer's British International Motor Show can check out the world's only road certified and tested electric model at the exhibition.

The city car from Norwegian company Think has zero CO2 levels and zero emissions, as well as a low price point.

It is also energy-efficient, with the vehicle running for 126 miles on a fully-charged battery, while the material it is made out of is 95 per cent recyclable.

Richard Blundell, managing director of Think in the UK, said the vehicle is "cheap to run" and looks "great".

"Unlike the lower-range, electric quadricycles that have had limited success in the UK, the Think city is a real car which provides a realistic option for those motorists who want to drive a true zero emissions car," he said.

Robert Anderson's first crude electric carriage, developed in the 1830s, is considered the onset of the electric car.
