Motor insurance: Markings call rejected
Tuesday, 08 April 2008
A plea by a local council in Ampney Crucis to improve road markings has been rejected by safety officials.
The council had asked Gloucestershire Highways to look again at the markings on the road after a number of accidents on the A417 but such thoughts were swatted away, reports the Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard.
An official from the organisation, Jenny Watkins, said that it analysed the portion of road and found that no amendments needed to be carried out.
"The assessment found that there was no case to support a change by increasing the length of double white lines, therefore the lining was reinstated as previously marked out," she told the publication.
Local Frank Skinner stated that when the lines were recently repainted it was a great opportunity to take away such double white lines on apparently unsafe sections of the road.
Children in Oxford recently made safety banners in a bid to highlight dangers outside their school.
Motorists involved in collisions may find that their motor insurance premiums are impacted upon.
