Car insurance: Norfolk tickets 'in decline'
Monday, 09 June 2008
The numbers of people being caught speeding in Norfolk are falling, according to recent figures released, something that may have a positive impact on their car insurance.
During 2007-08, 1,891 fixed notices were handed out to drivers in the region, said the Norfolk Safety Camera Partnership, down from 3,008 the year before, reports the Norwich Evening News.
Manager of the partnership John Fairey told the publication that people are beginning to take note of where the devices are positioned.
"The payment of tickets has also been declining due to more motorists going on the speed awareness course, as an alternative to prosecution or a fixed-penalty notice," he commented.
A spokesman at Norfolk Constabulary added that there are now many alternatives for motorists who have broken the law due to a "minor error of judgement", such as these courses.
Last week, groups such as Motorists Against Detention argued that new film-free speed cameras will simply only generate more revenue for the authorities.
