Friday, 09 May 2008
A number of amendments have been made to an accident-prone road in Nuneaton, including a new speed limit.
Contractors working for the council have also placed refuges at the side of the A5 so that protection is given for those crossing the busy highway, reports the Coventry Telegraph.
Moreover, a 30mph speed limit has also been imposed on the road starting at North Warwickshire and Hinckley College to The Long Shoot.
Liaison officer at the county road safety unit Chris Fossey observed that matters should be improved after the large-scale amendments.
"The changes have been introduced to tackle the high number of accidents on this road and will give the road a more residential feel to road users," he commented to the paper.
New flashing signs have also been deployed as an attempt to warn motorists of the alterations.
Those caught breaking the law may find that their car insurance premiums are negatively impacted upon.
Children in Cheshire recently got involved in a safety drive that will organised by Cheshire county council.
