People after "good value" products that last

Two criteria have been identified by one interiors expert when it comes to the things that homeowners are after when they head out shopping for products to spruce up their pads.

Susan Llewellyn's first point is one that she relates to our current economic climate.

Home insurance holders might be putting large amounts of cash into products, she said. And, she added, this could be taken from their hard earned savings, rather than their regular wages.

This meant that such shoppers are after "value" said the woman behind the London based Academy of Interior Design that bears her name. 

"They want quality and they will be thinking quite carefully before they spend because obviously money is tight," she said.

A product's "longevity" was also important to people, she said – it must last a long time.

Home insurance holders needn't spend thousands achieving these goals, she suggested. Adding that less expensive products that can be found during a trip to the local high street can also be of good quality.
