Car insurance: Royal-themed registration to go under hammer
Tuesday, 04 November 2008
Some car modifications do not affect a motor insurance premium and buying a personalised registration plate can be a potentially ideal way to spruce up a vehicle.
With this in mind, the DVLA has announced that a unique plate, 1 RH, will go up for auction later this month.
The royal-themed number/letter combination is one of the "most desirable" and is likely to exceed the reserve price of £8,000, said Damian Lawson, marketing manager of DVLA Personalised Registrations.
"1 RH is arguably one of the last great jewels in our crown," he added.
In addition, the auction - set to take place at Tankersley Manor in south Yorkshire - will include other registrations such as BMW 1A and EVO 1S, which the DVLA said is likely to tempt Mitsubishi Evo owners.
Those who do decide to buy a personalised plate are obliged to inform both the DVLA and their car insurance provider.
