Car insurance: Fuel fugitives 'could show drivers how to cut costs'

Motorists who always ensure they purchase the cheapest online car insurance may find following the example of two Peugeot drivers can help them make savings in other areas.

The individuals in question have circumnavigated Britain in the manufacturer's 308 SE HDi 110 model, achieving average economy of 126.8 mpg.

Known as the fuel fugitives, the pair's claim has been authenticated by Guinness World Records.

Fleet sales director Phil Robson stated: "We've been telling customers that our low-CO2 Peugeot vehicles are ... very economical and fuel efficient, but I have to say even I am very impressed by this achievement."

The drivers have covered over 3,700 miles using 29.1 gallons of diesel – just over two tanks full.

Peugeot pointed out the model the motorists have chosen is not its most economical car.

Meanwhile, people who already use eco-driving tips to keep fuel consumption down may find searching for cheap vehicle insurance online can save them even more cash.
