Car insurance: Properly inflated tyres may protect cheap premiums

Friday, 11 September 2009

Drivers who check and adjust their tyre pressure at least once a month may be in a better position to protect their cheap car insurance premiums, it has been suggested.

According to TyreSafe, ensuring these important auto parts are properly inflated can significantly improve the safety of a vehicle.

The organisation explained the contact patch with the road on tyres that do not contain enough air starts to grow.

As a result drag increases, potentially putting the car's occupants at risk.

In addition to improving safety, motorists who check tyre pressure regularly may cut costs, the group pointed out, as fuel economy is negatively affected if these vehicle parts are under-inflated.

Chairman Stuart Jackson said it made financial sense to conduct this simple auto check.

"Making sure that tyres are correctly inflated costs nothing yet can save motorists significant sums of money," he claimed.

In other news, the same organisation recently urged drivers buying these car parts online to make safety their first priority.
