More travel insurance customers flying with Ryanair
Friday, 04 June 2010
More travel insurance customers are flying with Ryanair at the moment as the British Airways (BA) strike action continues to affect travellers.
Last month, Ryanair carried 17 per cent more travel insurance policyholders compared with the same month in 2009.
Air France-KLM also saw a rise of 4.3 per cent in travel insurance customers travelling with them in May.
Over the same period, BA saw a 11.5 per cent drop in passenger numbers, which is partly attributed to the industrial action being carried out by cabin crew on the airline.
Cabin crew at BA are continuing with their walkouts until June 9th, as talks between the union Unite and BA have failed to resolve any other the problems, which means travel insurance holders are still being affected by the action.
Some 80 per cent of long-haul flights from London Heathrow are still operating, along with 60 per cent of the short-haul services.
Any travel insurance customers travelling to South Africa for the World Cup will not be affected by any flight disruptions or cancellations, the airline has confirmed.
