Car insurance: Satnavs 'could cause road rage'
Friday, 03 April 2009
People who follow the instructions of their satnav without question could end up having an accident and having to make a car insurance claim, if the results of a new survey are anything to go by.
A poll by motoring.co.uk revealed 56 per cent of motorists have ended up shouting at their device in sheer frustration, with 32 per cent admitting the system has caused them to have an argument.
Men seem to have more difficulties with their satnavs than women, with 30 per cent of male drivers ending up totally lost after using the technology compared to 20 per cent of their female counterparts.
When asked about their preferred voice to offer directions, the most popular celebrity choice was Nigella Lawson, followed by Billy Connolly and Julie Walters.
Planning journeys in advance may help drivers avoid accidents and protect the no-claims discount on their motor insurance policies.
