Car insurance: Yellow school buses 'may cut down on congestion'
Tuesday, 08 January 2008
Residents in Cardiff and Swansea are being given the chance to give their thoughts on road safety onboard an American school bus.
The vehicle is set to be driven to a number of cities in the UK as part of the Yellow School Bus Commission scheme, reports the BBC.
It is hoped that the initiative will allow people to debate important issues, something that could see school bus services being introduced.
Spokesman for FirstGroup Stuart Render - which set up the commission - stated that the move could highlight issues that are important to parents and youngsters alike.
"The whole package is designed to give parents reassurance they are putting their child on a dedicated school bus," he told the news provider.
Road congestion may be improved if a bus was implemented, which will enhance safety, Mr Render argued.
Drivers involved in accidents could see that their car insurance premiums are impacted upon.
Congestion has been reduced by a similar plan in the north-west, according to the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority.
