Car insurance: VW Scirocco wins Scottish award

Tuesday, 04 November 2008

The Volkswagen (VW) Scirocco has been given a prize at the Scottish Car of the Year 2008 awards, which could be of note to those looking for new car insurance.

Named Sporting Car of the Year, the title is the first received by the model since its launch in September.

According to VW UK director Chris Craft, the award is "particularly special" for this reason and a "tremendous honour".

The Scirocco has a 2.0-litre engine but was recently made available as part of the coupe range, coming equipped with a 1.4-litre TSI 160 PS engine.

Features accompanying the model as standard include adaptive damping control and six airbags, meaning car insurance customers may find the vehicle a potentially suitable choice should they be in the market for a new car.

Of course, various motor insurance providers take safety features such as this into account, although it might not affect premiums.

Some information most insurers need from customers are things like the make and model of the car and the postcode of the driver.
