Motor Insurance: Signs to tell drivers of limit
Wednesday, 23 January 2008
New signs that remind motorists of the speed limit on the A449 are to be put in place by the council, it has been revealed.
Worcestershire county council said that the stretch of highway between Ombersley and Worcester has seen a high number of accidents in the last few years, reports Worcester News.
A local motorist, Andy Martyr, claimed that many drivers in the area are confused about the actual speed limit and that the signs are a good idea.
"I have seen a number of dangerous incidents there since the speed cameras went up. Drivers don't know what the speed limit is," he told the publication.
He added that if measures are not taken quickly then there is bound to be another serious accident later in the winter.
Speed cameras were implemented on the section of road as the council looked to implement tighter measures against speeding.
In Norwich, residents are to be trained to use speed guns in the drive by community scheme Speed Watch to hinder law-breakers.
Motorists caught speeding could see their motor insurance premiums negatively impacted upon.
