Car insurance: Vehicles with small engines cost less to cover

Thursday, 04 February 2010

People who shop around for the cheapest car insurance might like to know that vehicles with a small engine size cost less to cover than larger models.

Writing for the Daily Mirror, Graham Hiscott noted that there were a number of cheap car insurance options for motorists.

For instance, checking that suppliers hold the right details about mileage can also prove to be a benefit to those looking for a cheap insurance deal, Mr Hiscott said.

In addition, drivers who take the time to shop around for cover can generate significant savings.

"Do go back to your original provider once you've compared prices to see if they will offer a better deal - they may reduce the cost to keep your business," Mr Hiscott advised.

Drivers who compare car insurance to find the cheapest policy may save more money than those who attempt to find the most budget-friendly fuel brands.

Recent research by the car magazine Auto Express found that performance differences were barely noticeable between the UK's six biggest-selling fuel brands - Shell, BP, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Tesco.
