More car insurance customers could benefit from the reduced mileage on the road that satellite navigation systems can offer to motorists.

The news comes as new updates of software by Apple for car accessory firm Tom Tom's app for the iPhone, mean getting around will be even easier than ever before.

The software upgrades offer car insurance customers a new method of entering locations to navigate - using photographs.

This will allow users to turn their photo galleries into working address books from which to select a destination.

Cheap car insurance customers lucky enough to own the iPhone 4 will also enjoy high resolution graphics, detailed maps, greater responsive and enhanced geo-positioning.

Not only does driving fewer miles save you money on petrol costs, but insurers regard drivers who typically drive less as being lower risk.

With car insurance premiums escalating more and more of late, motorists will want to take advantage of anything they can, to lower costs.
