Travel insurance: Young people 'are socially responsible'

Wednesday, 18 February 2009

Before taking out travel insurance for a trip abroad, many young Brits want to make sure the holiday they are planning is a socially responsible one, it has been claimed.

According to i-to-i, people in their early twenties seem to have strong ethics when it comes to choosing work placements overseas.

It explained customers tend to worry about the impact of their travels on the environment, the communities they stay with and the developing world as a whole.

Operations director Bruce Haxton said: "There seems to be a great sense of care for people outside their own country by young people today."

He added: "It is really impressive to see."

Recent research from i-to-i found 31 per cent of people felt guilty about the effect of their travels on the environment.

Another 29 per cent worried about the fact they did not get involved in the community.

The company i-to-i helps people organise working holidays abroad.
