Car Insurance: Speed camera advert "irresponsible"
Thursday, 27 December 2007
The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has criticised a Road Angel advertisement as being "irresponsible".
According to the ASA, the ad for a speed camera locator could give car insurance customers the impression that the mechanism could help them avoid speeding fines by locating the cameras.
The ad was found to be in breach of the advertising code regarding responsible advertising and motoring.
"We concluded that the ad was irresponsible and could be seen to encourage drivers to break the law by speeding in between cameras," the ASA said.
The watchdog told Road Angel that it should contact a third party to find out how to amend the ad so that it does not break the law.
Meanwhile, this week the Derbyshire Safety Camera Team revealed where its mobile speed cameras are located, the Evening Telegraph reports.
