Car insurance policy holders could face greater risks on the UK's roads following the deactivation of speed cameras.
Two-thirds of motorists (66 per cent) fear roads in certain parts of Britain will become more dangerous, research by RoadPilot shows.
So far, three per cent of fixed speed detection cameras in the UK have been switched off, the speed camera detection service indicates.
Commenting on the results of the poll, RoadPilot chief executive James Flynn explained that the widespread deactivation of cameras will require drivers to be "even more aware of the road's speed limits".
Recent research by Swiftcover.com suggested that four out of five British drivers admit to speeding on motorways.
Car insurance customers in the UK are also responsible for a range of other driving misdemeanours, including driving through a red light (18 per cent) and using a mobile phone without a hands-free kit (66 per cent).
