The device on the A44 in Bromyard has been taken down and is now occupied by a special notice that informs drivers when they are going too fast, the Ledbury Reporter said.

Lead engineer for traffic at the council Andrew Lee-Jones stated that the existing policy at the organisation means that the camera is not necessary.

He suggested that the authorities could backtrack if incidents are seen in the stretch as a result of the removal.

"The site will be monitored over the coming months. The use of mobile enforcement may still be considered during this period, should any further issues arise," he told the news source.

Recently, a speed camera on the A21 close to Johns Cross has also been taken down after a roundabout was created.

Drivers caught exceeding the speed limit may find that their car insurance premiums are negatively impacted upon.
