Motor insurance: Safety campaign 'popular'

Tuesday, 01 April 2008

Bedmond road safety campaigners have garnered a great deal of support from locals during a new initiative.

Many residents have added their names to a petition run by the Church Hill Residents Against Speeding Harrassment group, reports the Watford Observer.

Chairman of the organisation Jan Smith said that she "would like to thank" those who also want to see the speed limit in the Hertfordshire area reduced.

A number of the people to have signed the document have had first-hand experience of problems on the roads, Ms Smith observed.

She told the paper: "Almost all had stories to tell of near misses or difficulties with walking to the shops or school. Others told of speeding vehicles making it virtually impossible to cross the road."

Further support for the drive has been seen from local shops and other Bedmond venues, such as the equestrian centre.

This week, said that people learning to drive could be hit by extra fees announced by the Driving Standard Authority.

Drivers caught breaking the speed limit may find that their motor insurance premiums are negatively impacted upon.
