Motor insurance: Man caught speeding at 122mph

Tuesday, 23 October 2007

A man in Scotland has been caught by police driving at 122mph - which is more than twice the speed limit.

He was spotted doing the speed on Saturday October 20th in a Ford Focus vehicle close to Falkirk and police have stated that this was a "horrendous" piece of driving, reports the Midlothian Advertiser.

The driver was targeted as part of the crackdown by officers at Central Scotland Police, which has seen a decrease in law-breakers.

Donald McMillan, Chief Inspector, noted that the force will carry on in its quest to cut out this kind of driving.

"We will continue to actively and rigorously pursue those motorists who flout the law in this way," he told the paper.

Mr McMillan added that there will also be an attempt to knuckle down on those that drink and drive in the area.

Central Scotland Police has a workforce that covers about 281,000 people.

Motorists who flout the law may find that their car insurance premiums are impacted upon when they are caught speeding.
