Motor insurance customers 'could benefit from Subaru eyesight device'

Tuesday, 11 May 2010

Car insurance customers could benefit from the latest development from car manufacturer Subaru - the New EyeSight driving assist system.

The brand has launched the new safety device, which uses camera technology, to help drivers avoid collisions that will impact on the cost of their car insurance premiums.

A Pre-Collision Braking Control device is fitted as part of the new technology and this sounds an alarm warning drivers of a potential collision with the car in front of them, which a motorist would then have to claim for on their motor insurance policy.

The new system will be available from mid-May and is expected to eliminate driving risks, in particular those posed by slow-moving traffic.

Recent research from the Royal National Institute for the Blind showed that one in three motorists in the UK could be on the roads despite failing to meet minimum vision requirements, the Argus reported.

Any motor insurance customers who are caught driving not meeting these standards could be subject to a fine or even driving disqualification if they fail to seek adequate treatment.
