Car insurance: Berkshire bobbies beating vandals

Wednesday, 26 September 2007

Police forces in Berkshire are winning the war against the yobs who have recently smashed a number of cars in the area, one officer has claimed.

Speaking for Berkshire Police, PC Roger Knight said that recent weeks have seen a spree of "mindless vandalism" taking place, with windows broken, bodywork damaged, aerials snapped and wing mirrors pulled off.

Such damage is likely to cause drivers to contact their car insurance companies, particularly if it makes their vehicles unroadworthy.

However, good news may be at hand for these car insurance customers, as PC Knight claimed that officers are getting the upper hand.

"I"m pleased to say that the weekend before last, September 14th to 16th, only one incident of criminal damage in Great Hollands was reported to police and that was not related to a vehicle," he said.

Earlier this month vandals in Lincoln damaged 20 cars in a late-night rampage, the Lincolnshire Echo reported.
