Car insurance: Campaign begins in Thurso

Wednesday, 21 May 2008

Parents in Thurso, Scotland, have started a campaign to try and improve road safety after an accident close to a school there.

Eileen Mullins, the mother of a boy struck by a car outside Mount Pleasant School, has begun the initiative and suggested that it is lucky nobody has been hurt in the past, reports the Press and Journal.

She said that the road is a busy one and has a great deal of traffic coming from all directions.

But Ms Mullins noted her joy at the fact that her son was not more seriously injured as a result of the collision.

"I suppose we should be thankful he wasn't more badly injured - it could have been so much worse," she told the paper.

The Safer Routes to Schools Group has also revealed that it is fully behind any improved safety developments.

In related news, another safety initiative was instigated by police in Peterhead this week following various episodes of poor driving.

Drivers who break the law may find that their car insurance premiums are negatively impacted upon.
