Car insurance: Top Gear 'car used in museum'
Thursday, 25 October 2007
A car that was smashed into by a train on the Top Gear television programme is to be sent to York to give a message to careless drivers.
The vehicle will be put on display in the National Rail Museum with the intention of reminding drivers of the results of loss of concentration on the roads, reports the Press.
Network Rail helped in the overall development, which has occurred as part of the Don't Run the Risk Campaign.
Area general manager of the organisation Neil Henry noted that it is a great way to engage the public with issues concerning safety.
"This fun and engaging event at the National Railway Museum is a great opportunity for us to do just that in a relaxed but informative environment," he told the organisation.
Drivers who are involved in accidents may find that they see their car insurance premiums negatively impacted upon.
Another campaign was launched recently in Scotland - the Safe Drive Stay Alive initiative, in an attempt to save lives.
