Over half of people who are embarking on cruises are not taking out any form of travel insurance to protect themselves on their journey, a study has found. conducted the research and is encouraging people with cruise holiday plans this summer to guarantee they have sufficient cover.

However, only 13 per cent of people who enjoy traditional beach holidays confess to departing the UK without arranging any travel insurance.

Danielle Fear from the cruise comparison site, said: "There is something magical about a cruise liner and sailing into the sunset, as the holiday is certainly full of adventures.

"If cruisers are insured, they can rest assured that everything is covered, allowing them to kick back and enjoy the experience."

Ms Fear also stated that while travel insurance can be an extra expense for holidaymakers, it is recommended as it protects against a wide range of potential scenarios and events.
