With thousands of Brits hoping to beat the January blues by embarking on a winter escape, the Association of British Insurers (ABI) has urged people booking their
travel insurance to get sufficient cover for their time on the slopes.
Those looking to spend their holiday on skis should do what's required to avoid a bad start to the new year by ensuring they carry protection for travel of this nature.
Although many people depend on annual travel insurance policies, skiers should be warned not to start their holidays without full
winter sports cover.
This is particularly important because the cost of ski injuries can be more than the price of a holiday, with treatment for a fractured vertebrae costing over £9,000 in France.
Nick Starling, director of general insurance at the ABI, said: "The cost of medical treatment for ski injuries could put most people out of pocket."
He advised people to avoid missing out essential cover, as doing so could ruin their winter escape.
