Car insurance: The name's Bond, uninsurable Bond

Thursday, 16 November 2006

Despite it being imperative that all motorists in the UK have cheap car insurance before they drive, there is one man who will never succumb to its charms.

That man is James Bond or 007 as he is known. One car insurance firm has studied his history and found that it is unlikely that the secret agent would ever be insured to drive in this country.

He often takes part in long car chases and wrote off three cars within four days in the film The World is Not Enough.

Keith Lewis, from the firm who compiled the research, said: "Bond wouldn't be Bond without the shaken not stirred approach, but in the real world, it would cost thousands to insure with just one previous claim.

"With three write-offs, he would be selling diamonds forever to pay for it."

Bond would have to drive more carefully in order to get cheap car insurance. Mr Lewis added "with his track record, it's probably best to get Miss Moneypenny to take him to the Casino Royale".

His latest flick has already broken a Guinness World Record by featuring an Aston Martin car which rolls over seven times in a crash, all filmed during one single take.
